My category with main course dishes is rather large. It includes a big selection of traditional Balkan recipes with meat, poultry, fish and seafood, as well as vegetarian dishes.

Balkan people are particularly fond of meat. For centuries, families in the villages have been farming animals for self consumption. Although, predominantly, the oldest traditional Balkan dishes are made with lamb, there is a great number of recipes with pork, beef and chicken.
Most of the locals in the villages grow vegetables and vegetarian dishes are also very popular.

Fish and seafood are most accessible near the sea. All traditional recipes with seafood come from these areas.
